Jaguar Cars Limited is a luxury car manufacturer based in Coventry, England. Now it operates as part of the Jaguar Land Rover business owned by Tata Motors of India. When it was founded in 1922, it was called Swallow Sidecar Company. It moved from Blackpool to Coventry in 1934 with a new name, SS Cars Ltd. It became Jaguar Cars Ltd in 1945. It has gone several changes of ownership and in June 2008, Tata Motors bought it from Ford. Jaguar had made its name in 1950s with a series of elegantly-designed sports cars and luxury saloons. It was one of the many privatizations of the Thatcher government.
